1. Rainy morning turned into beautiful afternoon. 2. Tried a drumming class with my girlfriend, it was a blast! 3. Hit a bucket of balls at the range🏌️♀️
There are a couple of ways to do it, but one of them is boiling the parts of the flower (petals or leaves separately or together, though keeping it together will shift your final color) in a set amount of water, combining that water with baking soda I believe, and then drying the pigment on cheesecloth. You essentially make a watercolor paint. I hypothesize that you can alter it from there to be acrylic, but will find out for sure when I give it a shot! Here’s a 15 min vid on the initial process if anyone is interested: https://youtu.be/6gmlEondheo?si=vTPgZeh4m5hq1wuV
Indeed! The baking soda (?) extracts the pigment and then I’ll be mixing it with something like the clear acrylic varnish, or maybe an acrylic paint “base,” though I don’t suspect one is very different from the other. For watercolor, I believe it’s good to go as is after the pigment dries without any other medium! We’ll find out one way or another soon lol
My uncle packed up all my grandma’s china mugs (she collected them) and divided them up and sent each grandchild a box. He said “drink some tea with her mugs- you will feel better”. I haven’t yet- but I think I will now.
My son made Eagle. He wasn’t convinced about what a big deal it was until years later when I pointed out it was a contributing factor to getting that good scholarship to that school we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford where he met his future wife!

Love to find those kind of stickers on cars!
Saw my first tulips of the season.
70s and sunny.
Maxie wallowing in the mud at the dog park! Couldn't help but laugh. Lucky for us she doesn't fight a bath.
Hooray for first tulips! I love how spring is rolling herself out across our geographic differences.
Yes! Fun to "see" it's journey north.

1. Making art with no financial goal in mind is always such a nice treat
2. It’s warm enough to open the windows, and not yet warm enough to wish I had central air lol
3. Dandelions. I love that they’re feeding the bees now, and I can’t wait to make paint with them when the bees have more options available
#1 such joy.
100% 😌
Love that you are leaving the early flowers for the bees.❤️
Gotta do it! We need them and owe it to them to, if nothing else, leave the early flowers. 💛
Dandelion paint? Tell us more!

Amazing. Sounds like you're extracting the pigment and then mixing it with a medium?

I thought for watercolor you had to mix the pigment with gum arabic but don't take my word for it!!
Ooooh you might be right! Off to find some of that lol
Agreed! Do tell!
1. The rotten side fence has been demolished and new fence posts are placed! Woohoo!
2. The sun came out.
3. Had a productive workday!
Hooray for progress on your fence!

2. Able to help a friend who was struggling with an issue
3. We had blue skies and sunshine all day today!
Chai tea has been showing up a bunch this week! Maybe it's a sign for me to try it :)
Oooh in a china mug! Do you have one or do you rotate ?
The china mug is one of a set of two. I have other tea mugs that are porcelain but their is something special about drinking tea from a china cup!
Agree!!
My uncle packed up all my grandma’s china mugs (she collected them) and divided them up and sent each grandchild a box. He said “drink some tea with her mugs- you will feel better”. I haven’t yet- but I think I will now.
What a gift!! I hope you use them.
1. A spur of the moment 4 day getaway to Cancun with my husband.
2. Finishing one book at the beach and looking forward to starting another tomorrow.
3. Pineapple-jalapeño margarita with a Tajin rimmed glass.
Hooray for spontaneity!!
SO FUN!! Any books you would recommend?
I just finished The Let Them Theory. I wish this book was around when I was in my 20s. Here are a few recent reads that I loved:
James by Percival Everett
The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb
1. Wonderful temperatures today … windows open.
2. Lots of friendly neighbors on tonight’s walk.
3. Kid passed another rank. Only one left - Eagle Scout.
My son made Eagle. He wasn’t convinced about what a big deal it was until years later when I pointed out it was a contributing factor to getting that good scholarship to that school we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford where he met his future wife!
One of the schools he is interested in offers $30k per year just for being an Eagle Scout. It’s been a push but so glad he’s doing this.
I just opened my own windows!
1. Watched three osprey swooping just barely over my head this afternoon for several uninterrupted minutes.
2. An encouraging text from a friend when I needed it.
3. A mother-daughter resort sport day: I played golf with my mother this afternoon and tennis with my daughter after dinner.
So wonderful! All 3!
So good!!
1. Learning about a new approach (to me) to looking at my finances and feeling hopeful. "Money for Couples"
2. Cuddle time with my dog Harry.
3. Tasty dinner made by my husband.
I'll check that out! Thanks for the tip.
