2. My Gran would have been 100 today and I got to tell a whole new group of people how amazing she was and how lucky I was to be loved by her. So she got to be celebrated and known on her birthday ❤️
Thank you for sharing your story and finding the good things in the challenging times.
3 good things:
1. The scent of good ole Mother Earth after a massive rain storm - the dirt has such a unique, welcoming aroma then
2. We are enough
3. If you want to get something done, get some veterans together - what takes others a couple of days will be done in a few hours by veterans; it's how we're wired
Yes! We can smell the rain coming in the breeze. As a kid in Northern Maine, when that occurred, we went running for shelter before it hit. I often think of how instictual that felt.
So true! We did the same in southern Connecticut. Instincts born from generations before us, I think. Wisdom passed down through DNA you feel in your bones. How many things we know but don't know how we know. Sorry...going down another rabbit hole. ;)
So glad you got your puppy back safely!! Ours is a “bolter” and we live close to a busy road. So terrified each time she gets away -a few times a year.
Today was a hard day. Thanks for the reminder that it’s still worth (maybe more worth) lingering on three good things.
1) I did an excellent short meditation in my office today.
2) I handled something at work with a lot of grace and calmness. I have been practicing the pause between stimulus and response, and it’s been very powerful in my life.
3) I feel so close to my partner. We went on a great walk this evening, and I’m just so thankful for them.
I totally agree with the pause! After I became a supervisor, I spent the first two years angry (at my superiors) and exhausted. Then I really started working on myself- the pause, introspection -and my entire life changed. The best result is the better relationship with my kids- who still talk to me and seem to actually like me (sometimes).
1. It’s my Friday
2. I got a raise
3. I was told I’m actually appreciated at work!
Congrats!! It’s performance review time here, too. Mine was today. We don’t get raises- but we don’t get fired either!🤣
Yay for raises and praises!
Amazing! That must feel so great!!
Congratulations!!
Congratulations 🥳🥳🥳
Fabulous on all fronts! Congratulations!
Congrats,you desire it.
How wonderful to be acknowledged! Congratulations!

I bet your gran felt just as lucky so keep smiling at that mirror!❤️
♥️all three but especially smiling at yourself in the mirror. It’s a great practice. I hope you do it often.
That’s beautiful!! All 3 especially 2&3.
My grandma was the best!
#2 is so good. It opened my eyes to this new practice for me
Oh how I love your # 2!!!
What a neat way to celebrate your grandmother.
Three fantastic things! Thanks for sharing!
Will have to practice #2 myself!
I love the idea of swimming in the river. And what a blessing, your grandmother's memory.

2. Painted one of the wooden ornaments I have had prepped and ready since… December 🤣
3. Time spent in my garden seeing how much things have grown in 24 hours.
Doesn’t matter when you finish, just that you did!😉
Fair point! I’m early for this year, I suppose 😅
These things take time.
It,s great to see things growing
Snuggles in bed with my pup.
Homemade pizza for lunch.
Dermatology appointment went well, just got a couple of spots zapped. Overall I’m good to go!

I, too, noticed the smell of the earth last week. Intoxicating.
All good things! I love the scent of rain-soaked earth. Also, the smell of rain on the wind!

So true - I love your reflection.
I LOVE the smell of wet earth!
Too true (#3) and yes, we are (#2).
1. Good happy hour with a friend
2. Colleague helped me figure out my back pain
3. Safe commute amongst crazy drivers
Praying your back feels better quickly!🫶🏽
Thank you!
A morning at the blueberry field ❤️ turning the heel on my sock ❤️ a sandwich made by a friend really hit the spot ❤️
So impressed by your sock turn! I know how hard that is.
Thank you! It’s like magic - it’s just a flat fabric then - presto! It’s curved! ✨
Did get a lot blueberrys?
You know it!! I’m excited to make syrup!
Have ever made blueberry spiced jam ?
No! It sounds amazing tho!
Only 3! When I posted on We Love Gratitude ( sadly defunct) I tried to do 10
1. Figuring out Substack mistake by mistake.
2. Grocery lists. Not being able to read my writing but finally figuring it out.
3. Dog slipped her collar during good night potty. We captured her quickly and all are well.
I feel you on #1!
So glad you got your puppy back safely!! Ours is a “bolter” and we live close to a busy road. So terrified each time she gets away -a few times a year.
We live in the city and she crossed streets. Luckily it was 9 at night.
And because she slipped her collar, she would have had no tags!
Glad for happy ending!
And she’s a black dog in the dark!
Oh that's a relief
So glad you were able to get the dog quickly! And welcome to Substack!
1. Started the day with a 38 mile bike ride through Teton NP with my hubby. I was however pooped. Lol.
2. Had a yummy Poke bowl for dinner.
3. Wrapped up some loose business stuff that I'd been putting off.
#1 Sounds AMAZING.

I hope your tomorrow is much easier and I love that you have coping tools in place.🫶🏽
That pause between stimulus and response can be life altering!
So glad you showed up on a hard day. It's a gift to us that you share your good things, and a gift to yourself too.

I need to (desperately) practice the art of pausing. Thank you for this reminder.
1. My son discovered baking bread as a way to release stress from his job. Thrilled for him but even better for me.
2. Finally a little relief with a 20 degree temperature drop in one day.
3. Spicy jalapeño margaritas
DoorDash saves the day ☀️ Air conditioning for the win ☀️ World’s most amazing house cleaners ☀️
1. Took a shower
2. Washed my hair
3. Pretty band-aids
My youngest buys Hello Kitty bandaids!
My adult autism son.loves my little pony
One of the kids once told me as she chose a bandaid “If I have to get an ouchie it’s good I get to make it cute.😊”. I see that’s how you feel too🤭
Pretty band-aids always make me smile - in spite of the reason for them!
Tell us more about yhe and aids! How cute are they? I love a funny one with cartoons 😄
Watercolors in shades of blue and white. Very Pool vibe-y
💜a friend told me she was mad at me for moving away. I reminded her I am as close as her cell phone. And that I’m a little mad at me, too
💜Trader Joe’s are all very similar and familiar. A comfort in a new city.
💜Crepe Myrtle. The other worldly fuchsia of it.
Yes about Crepe Myrtles and thank goodness Trader Joe’s is consistent.
And their increadible bark! They remind me of the lilacs in New England that I miss terribly.
❤️❤️❤️
